Terrible news. I'm assuming this guy was soloing? That's a helluva climb with no rope

if you are worried about some one near and dear to you. Then keep an eye out for the ZNP Press release. The Park keeps the identity and particulars of the incident under close wraps until the next of kin can be informed. There should be no information disseminated until the next of kin can be informed.

Supertopo a thread about this accident if you want more information.

There are few details about the actual accident other than he was found at the base with a grigri and a locking biner in his belay loop.

Condolences to family and friends.

Good bye Eric. You are loved and missed by all of us. It saddens me to know you are gone, but I am so happy to have shared a rope with you on so many incredible days.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
