Grand Junction reccommendations for climbing with kids

I'm looking for recommendations for an area to take my younger siblings (ages 9 and 11) for their first time climbing outside. They've climbed indoors a couple of times and they seem to be pretty fearless scramblers, so I would love to share with them the wonderful experiences that can be had with outdoor climbing.

The ideal location would be:
camping friendly
has easier grades (5.fun is more important than 5.hard)
toprope accessible (though not necessarily)
has a variety of aspects (so we can chase the shade)
cool landscape (I guess that's not too hard to find in GJ)

I'm also curious where I could rent two small child's-sized harnesses, or where I should look to buy them.

Thank you for your recommendations!

Are you in Boulder or GJ? You should probably just buy harnesses. Are you experienced enough to be putting up routes for your kids?

Yo dude. I work in GJ at Summit Canyon Mountaineering. Come on in and we can hook you up with some harnesses and give you area recommendations. We have some harnesses on sale right now.

Weird comment? And do you know what sibling means?

I think Eric just miss read the OP; still good questions to ask though.

I would also check out Summit Canyon for beta. Realistically the closest beginner top rope setup that the OP is wanting would be Schoolroom slabs on Wallstreet by Moab.

Thanks, I figured I would stop by Summit Canyon and/or the local gym for some beta. After a cursory search I found a few 5.easys in Escalante and Unaweep in the MP database and I'm positive there are others out there, I just don't know the area well enough to know where to look.

I'm in Boulder, they're in GJ. It will likely be necessary to buy harnesses, but I'm curious if there are other options. And, yes, rest assured, I am experienced enough to set up some top ropes for my siblings.

The Outdoor Program at the university can hook you up with harnesses for a decent price to rent for a day. Escalante canyon is notoriously sandbagged, at least I think it's pretty hard. Some good options in Unaweep would be the grit wall, or the four blocks crag. Anything on the granite (which is further into the canyon) is going to be out of the level of a 9 and 11 year old I think. At the grit wall and four blocks, the routes are sport, but definitely easy, and not super long. I would think those would be great places to craggin with siblings for a day. That's my recommendation. You could even visit both of those, they are pretty close to each other.

+1 to nick escalante has nothing easy even the easy 4 blocks and gritwall are prime. If youve got a light rack claret cup betty and rays adv and others at the suntowers are awesome and truly 5.7 and under. Claret definitely has bolted anchors

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
