Trail Running in Santa Fe/Taos end of March?

I want to plan a fastpacking trip in Taos or Santa Fe the last weekend of March. Is this even a possibility? Are there enough trails melted out by then or not at all? This will be my first time in the area so any suggestions on some backcountry trails (maybe an awesome long loop?) would be great! I would be looking to do 15-30mi days for 3 days or so. Thanks!

With the snowpack this year, you'll have to stay pretty low to find clear trails at the end of March. Regularly traveled trails that are ski/snowshoe packed will be likely be runnable but getting deeper into the mountains (e.g. a multi-day loop) up high wouldn't be very fun or feasible. Not much is coming to mind right now for northern NM but if it does, I'll reply again.

In late March, most stuff in the mountains will be a mix of snow and wretched mud. I second Bandelier as your best chance. Nothing else comes to mind nearby; how far are you willing to drive?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
