Suggestions for climbing hold packages.

My local gym here in Ventura, Ca just closed down for good this week. I have a very nice climbing wall that is about 70 degrees overhanging. I have a lot of holds but they are all very positive. I climb about V7 in the gym and outside. I'm looking for a large amount of holds that I can create V7 problems. I don't really want to buy individual sets of holds because, well, I'm lazy. Does anyone know of any hold packages sold by companies that could possibly do what I'm asking for? I'm currently looking at the ninja package by 3ballclimbing. threeballclimbing.com/climb…

The Moon Board holds are sold as packages and there is a database of problems and their grades (Font ratings) online. Moon problems are set on a 40 degree angle and you also need to have the corresponding grid pattern on the wall to place the holds (so it might not work for you).

I am a bit puzzled about the angle of your wall, as it appears to be about 15 to 20 degrees and nowhere near 70. On my 20 degree system wall I have been using mostly Atomik Training holds - but not necessarily to set problems. However if your wall angle is indeed 20 degrees some of the harder Moon problems might correspond to the V5-V9 range that you appear to be going after.

Oops, yea. I was counting backwards from 90degrees. 90- 20 = 70. My mistake. Yes, it's 20 degrees.

Those moon holds look amazing. Simple and hard to hold.

Bit of a tangent on topic, but I bought a box of holds and there were some actual granite rocks with countersunk drilled holes. Any ideas on who made them?

I like Element's various bulk boxes. Metolius also does a number of boxes with a good variety, but I'm not the biggest fan of their material.

Walter, I also have those granite holds. They are super amazing and I love climbing on them. They are reinforced on the back with some type of blue cross hatched resin so the holds don't split. I wish I knew where to get more of them. Honestly if I could, I'd have nothing but real rocks all over my wall but unfortunately our rocks over here would split very quickly if I drilled as big of a hole as I would need for the bolts.

Tony, the element holds look great.... But the price? Yesh. Those are some extra expensive hold kits.

Have you tried talking to someone from the gym to see if they want to liquidate any of their holds? If they don't need them anymore, they'll probably give you a killer price on them! Bonus: years of built up human oils to make you stronggggg.

Bummer bout the gym… I'm going to be in Oxnard later this month (feb 20-23) and would love to get outside (SB, Ojai, Malibu?) if you're looking for a partner!

The gym owner supposedly split all the holds into 2 piles and sold one set to the Santa Barbara gym and the other to Boulderdash in Thousand Oaks. I thought I would but some sets from him but it didn't work out like that. It's weird not having a gym after 10 years of taking it for granted.

Compared to what? It's been a few years since I was actively trolling the Internet for holds, but I thought Element was pretty average at the time. Have prices come down? Awesome if so.

For example, element climbing holds have a set of 65 holds and feet for 795$ while 3ballclimbing has a 100 set of hands and feet for 295$ and soill has a set of 55 holds and feet for 265$. Big difference.

I love my atomik holds. I know they've got some packages, but I've only every bought bits here and there as money has been available. The same is true for my synrock holds. I know they have sets, but I've only ever bought a few at a time

The first set I ever bought was from atomik and I remember them being a great price.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
