Anyone ever used or heard of these ? Any reviews from people in here ?

I have tried using waterproof socks on long alpine routes where changing socks is either impossible or not economical. I came to the conclusion that it is not worth it. You end up sweating inside the sock and there is nowhere for that moisture to go, so you end up getting wet feet anyways. I was using a vapor barrier sock, which is basically the same thing. In theory, a company would come out with a breathable waterproof sock that could work, but you would have to be wearing breathable boots or an extremely breathable sock over the vapor barrier for any kind of moisture exchange to happen.

Something like the link you supplied would be good for white water guiding or fly fishing, where you're not expending have a lot of energy therefor moisture doesn't build up from the inside.

I have some gore tex brand ones. I've used them a couple of times for running in wet and cold conditions. They definitely keep water out. They don't seem particularly sweaty but I've never really thought about it.

I'm not inclined to judge them since they were only a few dollars at a gear swap. I might think about them more if I paid full price.

My feet sweat like a MOFO. sounds like a great way to get swamp foot.
For me if its not dead middle summer my footwear is gore-tex shoes/boots and a smartwool(or alike) breatherable sock. It the middle of winter its finally cold enough for my feet not to sweat so it not a problem Ice climbin..oh wait those boots are gore-tex too.

Why go waterrpoof breathable socks are crap, if you know how goretex works you will know why it's trash, your feet will get far to sweaty far to soon for it to be "breathable", super breathable mesh in the summer and vapor barrier when ever there's constant moisture around or it's winter, your feet will stay warmer and drier.

So you're saying Goretex = sweaty, wet feet but vapor barrier socks are the way to go?

How many people here can confirm that vapor barrier socks = dry feet?

Goretex socks allow you to sweat allot more because the liner absorbs tons of moisture, a vapor barrier system absorb no moisture meaning you feet stop sweating when they get a little bit damp rather than when the liners are soaked. Any way once the liner of the sock has gotten wet from your sweat it just turns into a vapor barrier, just with allot more moisture involved.

Vapor barrier socks are good for activities where you're not producing a lot of body heat. Any sustained workout, i.e. climbing in winter, skimo, snowshoeing, etc. is going to trap a layer of sweat in the liner with you. This means you will NEVER get your feet dry, no matter how diligent you are. Vapor liners on sleeping bags and cold weather camping gear is a different story. I use a vapor barrier liner on my sleeping bag out here in Wyoming because of the cold temperatures and the snow. The liner keeps my body heat trapped in the bag and keeps moisture out. Since I'm not running a marathon in my bag, I don't worry about sweating profusely and soaking my down bag.
