The Jefferson County Open Space are planning on hosting a discussion of a climbing management plan on November 19 from 6-8pm
at the American Mountaineering Center
Jefferson County Open Space is in the earlier stages of developing a climbing management plan especially involving new crags, new routes, new problems, new trails, wildlife interactions, and fixed hardware. They are interested in developing a plan with climbers to a mutually beneficial. They also mention the concerns for unsafe fixed hardware, especially given the huge numbers of bolts on Jefferson County Open Space. They want to have a means by which to catalogue fixed hardware, types, ages, etc. They want to have some means to update hardware as it ages.
If you develop routes/problems in Jefferson County on Open Space land (e.g. CCC), consider attending to be involved in the process.
