Yes. Quite a bit. Likely raining there right now. Wait time? Depends who you are. We drove out of there yesterday and saw people climbing at Battle of the Buldge in the rain. The whole "How much time?" is a bit of a mystery. A local will tell you 48 hours. Seems to depend on how much rain. It is pretty damn wet everywhere right now.

Yup.. what they said.

It's supposed to clear up this afternoon and tomorrow. If it's sunny it will probably be good to go on Sunday.

Oh gawd, not this sillyness again.

I'm as "local" as anyone and I say get out there and climb! If it's wet, you won't be able to climb much anyway 'cause it will be slippery. If it's dry, it's dry.

The problem with your over-simplification is that the sandstone can appear 'dry' but may have absorbed quite a bit of moisture (which in the last week it no doubt has) and can still be dangerous both to the climber and rock.

I know in Vegas they scold others for climbing when it's wet, and then rack up and drive to the crag 2 minutes later.

I've recently asked one of our wonderful MP administrators to include the same warning about climbing on wet rock, as you see for Red Rocks, to be included on the Moab page. It's still in the process of becoming a reality and I hope it does so in a timely fashion. I feel the fact that this issue resurfaces after every rain pleads the case that we need this warning! As a user group we need to collectively exhibit restraint, even though it doesn't necessarily align with our personal agenda and take the time to inform others in a constructive manner. I'm as antsy as the next person to get back on the rock, but they're alternative activities to be had around Moab in the meantime.
Thanks,
J

I agree, restraint is good when it comes to our resource.
But, as we know, we've been in a wet period this week, which for us doesn't even total one inch in the past week.
Here are the rain totals from a weather station near to Indian Creek: Monday was the big day with .61in Tuesday saw .12 Wednesday=.02 and today=.01

The rock at IC is typically vertical. How much water actually got on it? I'm sayin not much. Those people michael s. saw climbing in the rain were probably dry against the rock. There have been many hours of drying time between showers when it's been nearly 80F.

I'm just sayin stop with your rules and tellin people. Go climbing and be smart, not stupid. It just rained for 15 minutes here in Durango. I can see one of our climbing areas from here. The street is still wet but the rock is almost dry now.
