20 kN wrote: haha, they are kind of like skinny jeans, although not that tight-fitting. The knees are made out of Spandex which makes them extremely flexible. The downside, is I doubt the Spandex at the knees will stand much abuse.Spandex knees? So basically they offer the same protection as climbing naked without the added bonus of the brown starfish to people on the ground. |

Scrubs pants are the best for climbing. Bug/sun/scrape protection when you need it but light enough to roll up when it's too hot. |

Prana Zion Stretch. Such a good climbing pant. Cannot go wrong! |

Here's my suggestion for inexpensive durable pants. Often on sale around 20 bucks. Can last a long time, great for bouldering and fits ok under a harness, and can be worn in non-climbing situations, i.e. normal appearance |

One of us had a catastrophic pants splitting at Shelf yesterday. I mean, that split nearly separated the leg. Much climbing tape was applied to the hole, to no effect. But after ripping off one leg below the knee, cutting it into a square, and sewing it to the butt, the day was salvaged. We all even had sushi later without a wardrobe change. |

Lis Cordner wrote:What about the ladies? I could use some suggestions! Especially brands/styles that fit smaller people...They're not usually my style for everyday wear, but I picked up a pair of Rockstar jeggings at Old Navy for $5 and they're pretty awesome for climbing. More durable than leggings or yoga pants, but still super stretchy and easy to move in. Also, Gander Mountain Guide Series pants are good. Loose fitting with just enough stretch. You can usually get them pretty cheap, too. |

As a connoisseur of obnoxiously brilliant climbing apparel, I'm quite interested in the OP's selections! My latest find is these Highlighter yellow softshell pants for STP, made by Haglofs. They are actually really great climbing pants, and of course much safer for when the 'copter comes looking. Before that I had some circa 1981 J-Rat hot pink wind pants, but they had no stretch and busted in the knees pretty quick. In warmish weather I've got so prana knickers (I guess 3/4 version of Zion stretches) that are great, quite durable, oh so boringly grey. |
