2015 Alpine Rock Conditions
I just wanted to open a thread for the current Alpine Rock conditions for the state of Colorado. Please let this include bouldering (because boulderers are people too... sort of). |
Spiral Route on Notchtop is dry with a small amount of snow in the meadow. Some snow on the approach and in the descent gully. All raps are good/updated. |
Any info on The Diamond? |
Does anyone know the conditions of Ellingwood Ledges on Crestone Needle? A friend from out of state is thinking about tackling it next Wednesday (June 24). |
Just commenting to follow. |

Most of the Diamond will have some snow melt in cracks. Approach is super snowy still as well as Broadway. It's going to be a late season up there if any at all. its ankle to over boot post hole right above tree line. Dreamweaver coliour probably climbs well now though. |
Snow starts 2.2 miles after the Glacier Gorge TH heading towards Mills Lake |
Here are a few photos from yesterday, 6.14.2015, in RMNP. The Long's Peak trail to Chasm Junction was mostly dry, with short patches of soft snow. |
Any info on Hallett? guessing it is a similar story as above... |

No signs of recent slides. Flattop was starting to look thin. Second photo is right after topping out. Emerald Lake. Topped out on Dragon's Tail. |

There is snow on the trail the entire time from the loch to sky pond. hiking poles and maybe yak traks are good to have. Snow is quite slushy and running water on parts of the trail. |

Just erased my post about conditions for spearhead in RMNP when I saw this post. Seems like it is probably too wet to climb this weekend? |

A friend from out of state is thinking about tackling it next Wednesday (June 24).I'm not sure about the actual route, but the town of Crestone had flood evacuations several days ago. Lots of water and snow around the Sangres |

How about the black wall Mount Evans |

A friend from out of state is thinking about tackling it next Wednesday (June 24).Not first hand info, but this is the most recent photo of Crestone Needle I've seen (taken on June 4). Of course a lot could have changed in two weeks, but I have not seen anything more recent than this. It is from a ski trip report, I hope that helps! |

Does anybody have info on the trail conditions up to Sky Pond? |
Joe Castellano wrote:Does anybody have info on the trail conditions up to Sky Pond?i was there Sunday. The trail is fairly clear up to the loch. Some small snow banks before the loch. Trail is mostly all covered in snow after the loch. It is wet and slushy. An occasional post hole. No need for snowshoes. yak traks or the like will be fine and some hiking poles are useful. Definitely wear waterproof boots. |

Jay 1975 wrote:How about the black wall Mount EvansI climbed ice on the black wall a couple of weeks ago. There was still a lot of snow and huge cornices so I'd be surprised if it wasn't seeping. |
