It looks like someone retreated from the crux (rope in background on the main falls).

Yes, there was a Polish party that attempted the climb after us. They backed off and said it wasn't solid enough. There's some truth to that as the "overhang" midway up the route was caused by a 5'x3'x2' block detaching from the climb perhaps a day or so before we arrived. We used that block to setup the anchor for the 1st pitch. It was actually great to have something there to sink some screws in (because normally it's just a snow field).

Jan 2015 -- Brandon rapping off the upper tier of Kaaterskill Falls after we climbed both pitches. The upper falls had just come in the week before and was still creaky. As I led the final 50' you could see water rushing down behind the ice, which was about 12" thick. Temps were b/w 0 and 5 degrees (F), so cold as hell!
