Description

This is a relatively unknown and untouched area and little is known on the history of the area. Most of the established climbing is near the base of the canyon. Fires have rolled through the area a few years back affecting some of the bolder climbs and makes trecking a bit of a charry nightmare (expect to leave with blackened legs).

There are about 15 bolted lines in the canyon and really an unknown amount of established boulder problems. Even if you get to the canyon and decide you don't wanna climb. Take a trek up the creek and take a refreshing rinse in the grotto waterfall. Be mindful of the nearby transient den.

Getting There

From the I-10, exit Main St. in Cabazon near the casino than head west on Main to the first light at Broadway. Head south to Bonita Ave than take a left (east) all the way down to the Arrowhead factory than take a right (south) on Elm St. Follow that all the way down.

Park at your own risk near the area of Elm St. and Hattie Ave. than walk south up Elm St. to the water tower and follow the dirt road up behind it and up the cut off path to your right a few hundred yards before the creek. If you've hit the creek, than either turn around or just go up and hit the waterfall and than scramble up and out to the west.

The main climbing is on the bigger walls west towards the mouth of the canyon and a few more bolted routes on a nice little slab deeper in the canyon but slightly lower than the first stuff. The bouldering is literally everywhere.
