Peter was a second generation climber, and Yosemite was always his favorite. His dad, Ron Hayes first climbed here in 1947, and he has one FA: The Southeast Face of Eagle Peak, done with Jon Lindberg, son of Charles Lindberg of "Spirit of St. Louis" fame. Ron did many uncharted routes in the Valley with Al Steck, his childhood friend, but their biggest FA was elsewhere in the Sierra: the North Buttress of Mt. Morrison in 1960 with Jim Wilson joining the team. Ron died in '04, and the climbing bug is now in a third generation of Hayes offspring.
