dawn wall

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. With the recent news of Tommy and Kevin heading up the hardest route on El Capitan, the wall of early morning light a.k.a. the dawn wall, I wanted to read up on it and find out where on El Cap it is. trouble is I cant seem to track down any route listing for it. can someone tell me where to find info on it on MP? Thanks. |

I don't know that there is any real info on MP about the dawn wall, but it's to the right (east) of the Nose. Pretty hard to miss looking at a picture of the captain. |

this is great info, thanks guys! |

Can't believe that info, discussion about Dawn Wall has so few entries and dropped back 7 pages from front of news already. But for those who just can't get enough,,there is a two page pic and paragraph in the new April issue of Vanity Fair. yeay!!! that magazine knows how to get out there and find the good stories to cover every month. Pic of half of the pages shown(need a wider scanner I guess). |

The Dawn Wall route that Tommy and Kevin did is actually a mix of a few already existing aid routes. Most of the pitches they climbed include pitches on Mescalito, Adrift, the wall of early morning light and a few new pitches (5-7 I think) they did to link the existing features. Check out the first ascent history of the wall of early morning light and Mescalito, cool stories for sure. cheers |

The latest issue of Rock & Ice (#225) April 2015 has a complete, cover to cover treatise of "The Hardest Climb of All Time." |

I have the April issue of Rock & Ice. Its a good read with some amazing photos. There isn't much detail about how they planned out the pitches and I can't remember them mentioning the name of any existing routes. Only route I remember them mentioning was the Wall of Early Morning Light. |
