I'm going a step further to add "climbers" to that equation.
Im always checking out the forums for information on whatever. I've noticed the truck and gun forums are polite and MP and motorcycle forums are the worst.
Interesting post. Basically a troll about trolling. I don't blame the poster for doing it annonymously.
And yes, people are often pretty rude on the internet. I don't think it's anything unique to MP or climbers. Just the way people are these days. Easy on the net to say things you might not say to someones face.
My suggestion is to ignore the trolls (unless you find them entertaining) and realize that there is plenty of community and good info on MP if you filter out the nonsense.
Compared to some of the pro sports sites I've been on, MP is pretty mild...
Agree. This is a great place to BS about climbing and show off your use of puns and witty creative remarks that only climbers will get the references to. There is useful info and some solid discussion of value, but for the most part any post will sooner or later be ripped apart and God-for-bid you make a mistake or misspeak they descend like vultures.
Having said that it all can be amusing.
My advice. Buy some good books like the Falcon Guide 'How to Climb' series and study them like your taking the BAR. Then when you can't figure something out, post a question and hope someone nice is the first to answer.

Passive aggressive, whiny, thin-skinned, spineless. Etc Etc. Those are the ones that become butt-hurt, my friend (see the chart). Fortunately, there are some climbers that are fantastic human beings and friends. I should probably just focus more on them and ignore the chaff, eh? If you weren't referring to me, btw - you should have been.
