Valdez Ice Climbing Festival! Feb 13-16 (Alaska)

This is a free event hosted by climbers for climbers and we welcome the vertical community to join us. Grate times in the great land. Join us in Alaska this Presidents Day Weekend. Valdez, North America's original ice climbing mecca offers hundreds of climbs to be had and even more first accents to be made. That is the joy of being a few extra miles off the beaten path.

Keystone Canyon is looking good now, the Lowe river has frozen solid at Bridalveil and Hung Jury. Hole In The Wall is in and has an approach trail punched through and seen multiple parties along with Sheep Creek. The 17 Mile Wall, 19 Mile Wall, Thompson Pass and beyond are all looking great! Mineral Creek and the Duck Flats are half formed up so this rain could make things go ether way. We now have enough water to keep things fat so lets see what mother nature brings us next.

The amazing folks at the Valdez Visitor's Center will be opening there doors to us for the Saturday Night in town entertainment 7:00-11:00. This will be the happening place with a slide show, music and lots of dancing. Bring your eye patch and captain's hats. Shiver me ice tool this will be a pirate party. ARRRRR!

Only a few days to go till the festival and Horse tail is frozen up thicker than I ever remember.
