Alright, this is probably lame, but I am attempting to red point a very hard sport route tomorrow. I've gotten into the habit of eating well the night before, consuming fruit smoothies, doing yoga, and watching climbing videos while laying on the couch and saying to myself, "YOU CAN DO IT!" over and over and over again. I inspect and pack my gear and then just try to meditate myself into a blissful state of mind while rehearsing beta to a strange mixed tape of Led Zeppelin, Primus and Phish. So far all this nonsense seems to be working. Anybody else got a ritual they do the night before or even up to a few moments before they know their gonna take that thing down?

I think you're on point with visual meditation.

I make sure I have my health insurance card and a cell phone with me.

For a harder climb I take a couple rest/easy days before the day of the climb. Then I rehearse the moves as well as I can from the ground making hand motions and visualizing the moves going down easily. Then I stretch a little in the legs and arms to help me feel like I can maximize my reach. But I don't climb super hard so what does my opinion matter?

A nice healthy shit ... preferably before I start up the route.

This. *Solid* advice here. Weight reduction is key prior to climbing hard. Plus a tightly clenched sphincter uses precious blood flow which might be needed by other muscle groups in order to get the send.

We use the art of the sending donut. Nothing like a nice donut and then pounding out a hard route or problem.

Have your partner put a six pack at the chains and say it's yours if you can get to it.

I find that the shit is critical. I also dust my hands in the dirt and breath through pursed lips before issuing a rad-ness yell... "Check this out, I'm the best climber in the park you posers! I can't believe (insert nearby pro-climber's name here) got a contract! I crush so much harder! Watch me send this shit!" Or something to that effect.

I don't know if it helps, but I tell myself that I can do this, but if I can't it's not a big deal

I love the smell of tincture in the morning. It smells like... redpoint.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
