Looking for a Gunks partner after Thanksgiving November 28-30. I have a full rack and can lead up to 5.8 VT and NH grades. Looking to get on some Gunks classics and do as many routes as possible during those three days.

This all really depends on whether the weather holds up. I'm down to climb as low as mid to low 40s. Let me know if you're interested in meeting up and climbing that weekend!

Hey Trevor,

I'd be psyched to link up over those days. Only problem on my end is a Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday night, so I would be able to go as long that day. Down to climb in the cold and want to get on as many climbs as possible. Full rack here and a brand new 70m rope as well. My number is 914 424 6307, let's be in touch some time next week once we can see what the weather is doing. Cheers

Will

Hey guys, would you be down to bring along a new guy? I've been looking at getting into trad. I'll be down in New York from NH those days. Could possibly meet up any of those days, and am down to climb into the 20s. I like the cold. Got some passive pro, some slings, a nut tool, and plenty of carabiners. Toprope 5.9, haven't been able to lead or follow yet though.

shoot me an email if you're down. Caedeniggyzak@gmail.com

I am located in Elmira New York and would be very interested in Climbing at the end of the month. I am a seasoned climber but have only one trip to the gunks under my belt. I recently separated with the majority of my rack,i mean gf so I only have micro cams, aliens and nuts. I would have no problem leading or French freeing anything under 10 and would love to try Fat city direct. Please contact me if you're interested

Chance,

Will you be around New Paltz after Thanksgiving or will you be driving out to the Gunksif we decide to meet up?

A trip to Colorado just fell through due to work, so I'd be down to climb all next week if any of you are free then as well.

At this juncture I'm a Climbing bum. On the bright side I'm a disabled vet so I get a free guest and entry to the park. I'm free to come any time I can get a partner for a few days. I'm into free camping and quality beer.

I'm open the 28th-30th. Traveling back early in the week, and I have obligations mid-week. Happy to be a belay monkey. let's get a group of four going that weekend?

Hi All, I am down for climbing during those days too!

I, too, am available Black Friday. Weather permitting, I can be there by 9am and climb til dark. Been climbing for 21 years, safe, and into doing mileage or climbing fewer, harder routes. Keep me in the loop!

Everyone,

It looks like the Gunks weather is going to be rough, but hopefully do-able for Friday-Sunday. I am open to setting up a group to climb together, but I will probably be sleeping in my truck somewhere unless I score on camping.

How many racks and ropes do we have among us? And how many competent leaders?

It'd be great to get everyone out on rock who wants it, but let's make this work for everyone. I for one would like to climb as many routes as possible during those three days. No top-roping for me, just leading or following multipitch.

Thoughts?

I've got a rope i can bring along, no rack though. I know how to lead belay. I'm a quick learner for following. Trust me when i say i don't want to be top-roping either.

Black Friday looks good for me, I'm down to camp out over the weekend till Sunday as well.

that all being said, if you need someone to drop off due to uneven numbers, i'll volunteer.

This thread has somewhat blown up and I think we should try and pair up now. I am new to the Gunks and feel like I will be spending my time in the 5.6-5.7 range. Anyone who wants to to climb a ton of Gunks classic 5.6-5.7 let's plan to meet up. I'd prefer to climb with someone who can also lead and has a rack.

How is this going to work for everyone? Should we all plan to meet somewhere on Friday morning?

Hey all--

I'm a seasoned Gunks climber. Having climbed here for 20 years, I'm extremely comfortable navigating the Trapps, Nears, and surrounding crags. So whoever would like to tag along with me (preferably one other person, or 3 people), I'd be more than happy to show you around. Multi-pitch routes will likely suck, given the forecast, so single-pitch cragging will be my M.O. for the day.

Chris, I'll tag along with you. Plan on meeting around 9am black Friday, everyone?

Equally happy to cruise easy/moderates all day as I would be to follow harder routes here. Hoping to climb all week up there so maybe by Friday lower grade classics will have been done and I'll be more into leading 5.9+ and following upwards of that.

Hey guys, it's looking to drop about 6-10 inches of snow on Wednesday. Thoughts?

I don't like like the sounds of that...

I won't be heading to the Gunks due to weather unfortunately. Wish the weather had been in our favor. Good bye rock season. Long live ice season!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
