2014 AAC International Climbers Meet

Hi all~

Getting excited for the trip! I'm weighing whether to bring my rack & rope and wanted to see if anyone had thoughts. I'm a new leader this year, I'm leading Gunks 5.5, though following 5.10. On the yosemite trip I will probably be most interested in seconding (any grade) rather than leading. Is anyone coming who would like to do some leading but is not planning on bringing gear? I'm happy to bring my rack if that's the case. I have a single 70M rope as well. Otherwise I will probably look to pack light. Any input let me know!

Also looking for transport in and out of the valley from the bay area. Flights are on 10/4 and 10/12.

Can't wait to meet you all! :)

Thanks!
Lisa

Hey Lisa ,

I would say the rope is more important to bring. (Judging by what you are saying..)
It would still be good to bring some personal gear (for at belays) or maybe some extra lockers,
and cord for top rope setups... Then if you still have not hit the 50lbs. mark on your bag add some cams...???

Anyway, hope that helps! Extra ropes are always good! :)

Dear all.

As written further up I am looking forward to the meet.
It might take a few days into the week before I'll join though, as I most likely will be hooking up with an old Danish friend and do a wall.
If we go up, it will be somewhere on the South East Face (NA Wall, possibly). (I'll try and blink my headlamp around 8pm each night...!)

Definitely see you somewhat into the meeting.

Kind regards
Michael Hjorth

Hi

Have any final details on the meet been sent out yet. I'm due to fly out from the UK in 36 hours and haven't received anything yet.

Regards

Hi Tim,

Most recent I've seen is the gate pass & Yellow Pines rules from Carol.

We took our double ropes and runners in our carryon bags going to Smith Rock last fall with no problems. I just took our rack to our rinky-dink airport here, and TSA said no problem with it in the carryon. Hopefully that will hold true next Saturday. You can save a lot of weight in your checked bag that way. We like having light small ropes to split the weight and for rappelling. We prefer to climb here on our single 70M generally.

That is right Mr. Gibbs.. That is all you should have Tim.

A gate pass, directions to camp once in Valley, and some rules/regulations..

Carol and I met last evening to have a meeting on finishing up some details.
None of which is important to get you there and started…

We will start out with a day of cragging at a few different
crags for day one. This always helps get everyone together, and introduced, etc.

Hope this helps. Feel free to send me a message of anything you may need.

Ah. I haven't received any of those. Is it possible to resend them?

Cheers

I had a great time. Thank you Carol for organizing this, and all the other climbers at the meet for being great climbing, talking, camping, and camp-fire companions.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
