I put up a new easy 10 pitch route with my wife Teri Savelli which was completed on my birthday September 20 2014 on the West Face of the Ophir Wall. It took me 3 weeks of careful design prior to the final effort.

VIA ALPINA GR. II 5.9. Rap bolts, 8 clips, 1 each 0.5 to 2.5 cams. Bring 1 70 m rope as pitches are short. Avoid long raps as ledges make short raps easy and fast. Starts at the first pull out left 200m past the Ophir loop turn off. A very short 1 minute approach leads to a 5.6 bolted slab behind a cairn on top of a old stone wall. Follow a hand rail on a good trail to another slab 5.7, and there straight up low angle slabs that steepen up top. Includes two other hand rails.

Clean easy slabs with only 10 meters of easy cracks. the climb is 365 meters long ( 1200 ft) from the bottom and is very user friendly on excellent rock. However above pitch ten, Via Alpina's final pitch, there is much loose rock. Rappel route. Easy and safe with one 70m rope preferably. Round trip 3-4 hours. Fun !
