Prime location to learn alpine climbing/ mountaineering

To keep this straight forward I am looking for a location in the United States (maybe even out of the states depending on how expensive it would be to get there) where I can begin alpine climbing. I am majoring in environmental Science with a minor in outdoor recreation and this summer I want to work somewhere in the United States or out that can relate to my major. I am mainly looking towards internships in the National Park Service. While also working towards my major I want to focus on getting experience in alpine climbing with myself spending 3 months in that certain location.

I want to work in the prime location, with the perfect community open to teaching people and are well known to teaching alpine climbing without having to pay much to take courses, which I'm fine if I have to take a few.

I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan which give me great experience in ice climbing, trad climbing and a few multi-pitches. So I believe I have the experience needed to start alpine climbing, I just got to put everything together. I will admit I could use some more practice on trad climbing, but I am strong in ice and sport climbing on lead.

If anyone has any insight, opinions, or tips please let me know. I'm all ears. My main goal is to try and get an internship or job in Denali National Park or other locations with mountains to learn mountaineering/alpine climbing. Please let me know of any other locations.

Thank You

The Cascades in Washington has the biggest glaciers in the lower 48. And here's a guide service that I've used many times to help you:

If you want glacier travel skills then the optimum place to learn is the north cascades. Alaska works too if you want to travel that far.

There are quite a few alpine clubs around the puget sound area that offer course for cheap. Also lots of climbers around to meet up with and practice skills. From my experience the climbing community has been pretty open in the PNW.

you'll pay a premimum for guides, check out the clubs:

The Mountaineers
Boalps (most comprehensive alpine climbing class IMO, lasts months though)
Washington Alpine CLub

Find partners/mentors on cascadeclimbers.com

You get what you pay for. Yes, you'll pay more for guides, but will get better instruction, especially if you take a private course.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
