So...anybody else on here have the money draining hobby of flying? I know I met somebody up at Pine Mountain above Ojai, CA this weekend who's a climber and a pilot based out of Santa Paula, CA.

Myself, I have my SEL rating (roughly 270hrs) with a high performance and complex endorsement for an TC A-36 Bonanza my dad used to own. Currently I'm working on my instrument and commercial ratings and am hoping to take my check rides for both in about a months time. Then on to my CFI (certified flight instructor) and CFII, which I have finally finished the FAA written tests for.

I'd love to talk to any other pilots on here and share tips or any stories of flying!

Doesn't sound like a hobby to but more like a career in the making :)

Looking to go professional?

Possibly. I really want to get into aircraft repossession, but who knows. My dad is a very senior captain for United (retires this month), and anybody he has ever reccomended to fly for them gets hired. I may end up going that route, but would rather have the excitement of repo!

are you just saying this because of that silly tv show? I've never heard anyone say I'm excited to get into the repo business until that show came along.

Personally, I don't watch TV...I just work, climb and fly. However, I do personally know somebody in the field I want to get into. He repossesses airplanes, then buys them from the bank, then turns around and sells the airplane. I already have a business plan/licenses to start aircraft sales. The repossession, to me, is only exciting because I get to fly many different types of airplanes.

I get bored flying only one type, and that's also the reason why I have already flown 20 different types.
