Join the Wilderness Society's SAWS program, the Access Fund, and the Carolina Climbers Coalition in addressing a variety of issues on the Shortoff Trail, which extends 8 miles from the Table Rock Picnic Area to Wolfpit Road. A large portion of the Shortoff Trail is also the Mountains to Sea Trail. Crew will use loppers, hand saws, pickmattocks, pulaskis, and other hand tools to work on drainage, deberming, and brushing. Bring a day pack, rain gear, lunch, and at least 2 liters/quarts of water. Durable, full-length pants and cut-resistant boots with ankle coverage are mandatory to comply with safety requirements. Hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves are required and will be provided. New volunteers are always welcome and our experienced staff leaders are happy to show you the ropes!
