2 jumars with grigri backup

I have found lots of info on jugging with two ascenders and jugging with one ascender and one grigri. However, I can't seem to find any video demos or illustrations on how to use two ascenders/jumars with a grigri backup. It is just simply mentioned in some articles with little detail. This is the system I am more interested in using and I'd like some further info on the setup.

Links and/or explanations appreciated :-)

Jumar as normal, feed rope through gri gri every 20' or so instead of backup knots. Once you have enough rope below you it will feed itself.

Add a backup knot below the grigri whenever passing a knot for added security. Use backup knots every 20'-40' or so and clip them to your harness to keep the ropes from wrapping around a horn or flake as you jug.

a micro traxion works better, it feeds automatically after like 4 feet of rope!

just sayen.

PS,
I use back up knots a lot because of the rope snagging something, when you are on the shield or salethe headwall this might not be a problem, but when you are jugging through the grey bands or out of the sickle, its a different story. the back up knots make lots of small loops instead of 1 huge loop...

This is pretty common, but I'm not a fan of it because all it takes is a kink in the rope and the microtrax won't autofeed causing a large loop of slack in the line as you jug upwards if you don't notice (which is easy to do). If something catastrophic happens where both of your jugs come off the rope with said slack in the line, there's a good chance that the teeth on the microtrax can shred your rope, possibly even chopping that rope.

You've already got a Grigri on you if you're on the wall so there's no increase in weight to use that as your backup whilst jugging.

If you must have a faster feeding device as your backup, then the Camp Lift or the Petzl Microcender are a better choice because of their lack of teeth in the camming mechanism. (although the Lift doesn't always catch in my experience so I wouldn't advise using it)

You really don't need ANY backup when you are ascending a fixed rope, as long as you have two ascenders on the rope at ALL times with two points of harness attachment.

But if you feel the need to add a backup, do what Mickey and Kevin suggest. Grigris just don't feed, which means you end up climbing with the weight of rope dangling beneath you.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
