Hey I just picked up a seasonal job in Fairbanks from May to August . What is the climbing like in the area? Anything I should check out besides climbing? What is the culture of Fairbanks as a whole? Please tell me it's a cool place and that I'll have a blast. Also, is anyone in the Fairbanks area looking for a partner? Just for some some context I am coming from Arizona.
there isn't that much climbing near fairbanks. Grapefruit Rocks and Mount Prindle (which is still a full day away). I will be working in fairbanks all summer too!

I worked seasonally in Fairbanks for 4 summers and unfortunately, there's not much in the way of climbing. The closest areas are all at least an hour away. There is Angle Rocks which is grainy low quality granite on China Hotsprings road, and there are some limestone outcroppings about an hour north of Fairbanks, but it's just TR.
As far as the city goes, it's pretty run down and ghetto, not ghetto as in dangerous, but just old and not very nice. That being said, once you get out of the city it's beautiful. My seasonal job took me all over the state, so even though I was based out of Fairbanks it was still pretty cool. Hopefully your job is similar.
I'll have to check out those restaurants. Thanks! Kinda a bummer about the lack of climbing nearby but I'll be flying all around on my days off. I'm looking for a partner if anyone is down!
