I'm going to be in AZ the second and third week in May. I'm going to be in Tuscon, Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon areas. I want to go climbing and I'm only taking a sport rack.
Where is a good place to go that won't be deathly hot? I was thinking Mt Lemmon?
It is snowing here in Flagstaff today, and also at the Grand Canyon. Both should be fine temps for your trip, unless we get another cold snap. Mt. Lemmon has a large range of elevations and exposure directions, so you can pick an area there most months.
Any reason you left out Prescott as a choice? It will be cool here but definitely not snowing. There are tons of places to climb and boulder in the Dells alone.
Mt. Lemmon will have some good options. Search the Upper Mountain areas on the site, most of those should be pretty good, especially ones that offer a little shade. If you need some recommendations based on grade range, let us know what you are looking for.
I'm from CT. I've been to Phx and Tucson once on a business trip, so I don't know where Prescott is, much less anything in AZ. I'm going to AZ bc my gf is looking U of A med school, and figured we should make a vacation out of it, since we're going so far.
I'm a Gunks traddie, but I don't wanna bring my whole rack on the plane. It's too heavy. She's not a climber, but has climbed up to 5.8 on sport. I want to find something she can climb...
