I am applying for a job in Virginia City, Nevada and despite my time in the Tahoe area have never passed through this town. I know it is small & in between Carson & Reno.

Any info would help.

Local climbing?
Weather conditions? (Says the snow makes leaving hard when it gets bad because the roads don't take priority)

"I know it is small"

Small is a bit of an understatement...

on a positive note, I have friends that live up that way and teach in Reno. It can't be that too terrible (this year especially). Carson is you r closest climbing I think i.e. prison hill, sewer hill, dinosaur rock and river rock west of reno. That said there is awesome climbing in the Woodfords.

Always looking for partners, pm me...

thanks guys!

SLK I grew up in a town of 900 in Pennsylvania so small doesn't bother me to much. (Pennsylvania sucks!)

you can go over 431 and be in incline pretty quick. i don't know a lot about reno & carson crags, but i know the leap, woodfords and donner are all worth the drive.

Gotcha... Pennsylvania mostly sucks... I was in State College for a bit and it SUCKED. I dig Pittsburg though...

Pick up the Locals Guide to Tahoe and you will find all the local crags, sans Woodfords but that makes it fun...

There's a fun little sport climbing area near Virginia City but there's no formal beta on it as of yet. Hopefully the locals will share that info sometime soon.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
