Dude,
Did you really have to start another thread about your silo???? You already post on the Starved rock thread, the Midwest thread and your own thread. Please keep it all on the same one thread, we don't need repeated info everywhere.

Thanks,
Jon J

Yep, the more that know about it the better since the ice has gone from SRSP(you can never get the word out too much). That's like saying that your website should ONLY appear on one search engine and not as many as you can.... Sorry, but I am guessing that some here in this forum do NOT know about MI Ice fest either..... :) Some people do not see all the threads like you do... Thanks for your concern Jon, hope to see you at the Fest again this year.

There is only one MI Ice Fest thread in the Forms.

and that is YOUR way of marketing... unless MP has a rule against it, then the more places it is appropriate to post, the better. Meaning, that if the forum is about what you have to offer, then it is ok(or appropriate)- thus... Midwest forum(anything Midwest), Ice Climbing forum(about ice), then it's appropriate.

I guess we just have different opinions on the word "appropriate"

Totally cool that you guys have chunk of ice to play on, but I must say that I agree with Jon on this one. I keep up with the midwest forums because I am from Wisconsin. I have almost given up on it because it seems like this is all I see...

Allright, we do not need this to become a hate thread. Please stop posting up about this and let it rest.

Unless MP has a rule against it we are going to post in each forum that will help get the word out about what we do. We are located in the Midwest, so we will post there. We are about Ice Climbing, so we will post there. We really do not care that some people think otherwise. Just do NOT read what we post if you do not like to see it.

BTW, I can also guarantee that there are people that watch only some threads and not other threads. I was one of them myself not even looking at this Ice forum until just the other day. I am also good at keeping the threads up near the top so it just seems like you are seeing alot of it. Thank you.

I don't mind a moderate amount of marketing.

If a forum gets to be constant marketing, however, many/most people will stop using it. Exercise moderation, please.

Yes, only in threads where it has value to the user. Thanks for your input Doug. We will be careful....

We will be climbing this Sunday Jan. 19th, starting at 10 AM but will need to be done by 3:30 PM. Come on out. Let us know if you can make it.

I don't think you understood, and just bumped two threads on the same topic. Can we get a moderator to clean this up? There are three threads on this damn silo. The silo seems like a great thing; but using MP for excessive advertisement just seems inappropriate. Maybe you should consider paying for ad space here?

Thanks Ryan for your "bump", I have only this thread and one other in Midwest. We are an ice club, sharing the love of our sport. Not a business. We do not even make enough to cover what we have invested....anyone in the Chgo area who is not taking advantage of this Winter, and the great ice we have is not truly a lover of ice climbing. Look at how many views our thread in the Midwest has. MP should be paying us to advertise in our thread... :)

BTW, others have posted about the silo, but that is not me. I can not control what they do. Thanks for your understanding.

Just a casual night of friends on ice tonight. Even with the stiff wind, it is sooo much better than the 30 below wind chills of last 3 days. Last 3 days were great for ice building...big Phat' ice, the thickest it has ever grown to in 4 years of efforts. Over 7 ft. thick at the base, we truly now have a standing tower of ice not dependent on the concrete silo for attachment. Most ice is now 3 to 4 ft. thick, and filling in nicely for screw use soon. Amazing conditions.
Most folks are off to Muenising to climb for the upcoming weekend ice fest, so nothing happening here for about a week. Watch for updates from Juggler on our events planned for our own little Nice Ice fest here, the 7th through 9th of February.

Juggler up on the new ice tonight. Clear cold skies, a brisk wind blowing.
