Add a crampon patch

Anyone ever tried adding a crampon patch to their pack? Any thoughts on doing it? I downsized from a 50L to a 32L for the coming season, and I think it would help to get the crampons on the outside if possible. The pack's a Deuter Guide Lite 32+.

Thanks in advance!

These and other similar bags can be added to the outside of packs, and they're very handy!

Ditto on the crampon bag. Makes things much easier. I typically use it to store the screw tip and thread protectors in once I have my crampons on. If you do not have a place to attached on the outside of the pack you can always tuck under the lid.

While we're on the subject of crampon bags, look at Mystery Ranch. They make a large zippered utility bag that's perfect for your sharp things. Handmade in Bozeman and only ten bucks. You could just put your pons in there and strap it anywhere you want

I have an old Cold Cold World Valdez that I use with a Lowe Alpine pouch from a hike pack. works great.

I like the simplicity of a patch and a couple of straps, but if a bag's the way to go I suppose that's the answer. Thanks everyone!

You can buy some nylon or Dynema. Cut it to size and sew it on with a sewing machine. You could sew on loops for straps too. You could also strap the bag to the outside of your pack.

I put my harness on as soon as I get out of the truck. This frees up enough space to put my crampon bag inside my pack. I use Deuter Guide 35 if I'm not walking for more than an hour.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
