I've looked at this crack for years. I actually tried to go climb it this winter, but the road was closed due to ice. The picture of this route in the Steele/Tucker book is rad. Who knows? An offwidth renaissance could be approaching SB and Ventura counties...

I'm doing it soon. I just have to wrangle up 1 more #6 and a partner that likes to climb in bird poop and has an up to date raibies shot.

Dude. I'm so in... if we can coordinate schedules. I've got access to lots of big gear. I have 1 WC #6, Bernd has a #6 BD and my buddy has tons of Big Bros.

I made my way to the base of the route last week and still couldnt figure out what cam size we need. I have 2 BD #5's and 2 BD #6's and that might be good right there I'll head back up this week with my climbing shoes and solo up to the actual wide to get a better look and I'll let you know. It looks like you just heel hook/ lieback the whole wide section so it seems safe enough to run it out as long as we don't get attacked by rats or snakes on the accent. The walk off looks more dangerous than running the climb out. I think that's going to be the crux for me. Looks like #3, #4, sling the horn, 3 or 4 wide pieces, #4, #3, #2, and I don't know what for the belay. 798-4715. Give me a jingle.

You kids and your newfangled big cams :). Just have Andy cut up a few pieces of 2" OD aluminum and rig up some big tube chocks, like in that old school photo. And don't forget the knee high socks! I always wanted to get on this rig, but never did.

Sick!

Mission is on. Richard, I'm thinking of just climbing it naked—for full value, of course.

Terror of the Greeks, anyone? Bring a mask, I have a feeling there's some hantavirus in there. ;)
