Umm.... Basketball?

Oh yeah. Basketball. Depending on where you reside in the world, you may or may not know about the most intense basketball game of the year. For the past three years, climbers from The New and The Red have competed in a basketball game to determine the best climbing destination in the US (yep, determined by basketball). Here is a link to this years epic game and conclusion. |

This would be like if Buff Johnson and I had a thumbwar to determine which of us could bench press the most. |

I actually did play a lot of ball; broke more bones, and have more scars from inner city games, but I still fancy myself a talent of the highest porn star quality. |

Looks like a good game, nice work on that Johnny!Haha that's great - the way you fancy yourself is the most important. And thank you for the words! |

Only cared about the Gorge Cup basketball game ,,,sorry to see the NRG won again on their home court...do climbers trying to send their year end projects in the great fall weather even care about the NBA or NFL for that matter? |

^With organized sports dating back thousands of years, I would have to say some probably do. |

Hahaha that song is so deliciously bad! Thanks for sharing. |

Ps That game is an awesome tradition.I saw the masterpiece of a game last summer at the Red, days after they poured the new court. Haven't been out to the home court of the Sock Monkeys yet,,,and guess they have won 2 of 3 contests so far. Home court has proven the difference each time. |

^Thats awesome. Being from Tucson I naturally think Cochise is the best area. But thanks for the stats. |

AZ should form teams for Cochise and Paradise Forks and come down to claim the title.Man I'm sure that would be more than welcome. Game is being hosted at the Red next year. Start practicing. There has been talk of expanding and getting a tournament style bracket going. Stay tuned. |

Looks like a lot of fun. I'd try to bring a squad of southern boys up if there was a bracket... |

James Arnold wrote:Looks like a lot of fun. I'd try to bring a squad of southern boys up if there was a bracket...Yeah man there has been plenty of talk around here of getting Chattanooga and surrounding areas in the mix. Teams traveling from the west would be plenty rad too. |

More 'gorges' needed to make the official linup. What Gorge' climbing areas are super popular in the west to add? ..and do they have enough regulars there to post up a decent team? |

Basically anywhere that can put climbers together that think they have game. This is the future of climbing. |
