Snake Dike approach from Emerald Pool?

In looking at Google Earth it seems like you can go North from Emerald Pool and up steep terrain to the base of the route. Anybody tried it?

Would take way more energy than going around.

Yeah, I thought so too. It just looks so much shorter. You have to gain the same elevation over less than half the distance...with no trail per se.

Falls well into the bad idea category. Much easier to go around.

We ended up just going around. It wasn't too bad at all, except I think we cut North too soon after the trail past Nevada Falls started to level out. Fun climb...too much smoke unfortunately.
