Sorry if this is a bit of a noob question. I've never had shoes resoled before. From what i've gathered by talking to other climbers at my gym and searching the internet, i feel like im in a grey area on whether the resole will last. Im a broke student and can't decide whether to use what extra cash i got and get a resole or just bite the bullet and buy a new pair of shoes. I'm thinking of shipping them to rock and resole if i go with a resole. Thank you for any advice. It's greatly appreciated.

Resole them! I've resoled my mythos 3 times and counting.. Pros: - cheaper. You'll need to replace your rands + soles, so $45-60 depending on where you send them. - don't have to break in new shoes - you can get them resoled with 5.10 rubber and make your Mythos the ultimate shoe Cons: - maybe you've outgrown your mythos and want a tighter or more aggressive shoe depending on what you climb now.
Other: If you need to replace the laces at some point, use 5 ft of 2mm utility cord. It will last a lot longer than cotton laces.

Those kicks needed a resole long ago. I'd say that ship has probably sailed and you ought to just buy a new pair. T-minus 3, 2, 1 for a Locker glue huffing joke...

I sent a pair almost that bad to Locker at Positive Resoles and he totally hooked it up, with 5.10 rubber to boot (ha ha). I forget what I paid but it was ultra reasonable- a no brainier. He's here on MP, send him the pics.

I've had many shoes resoled that looked as bad. Have stopped waiting so long, as the results are better if you resole earlier, before the rand is worn. I use Rock and Resole usually. The late resoles do OK, but sometimes the fit is a little different. This won't matter for mythos, since they'll just stretch into a new shape on your foot anyway.

My Mythos weren't quite that bad but one of them did have a 1/2" hole like that on the toe. Dave Page Cobbler seems to have fixed them but they haven't been used much yet.

Shoe goo' for now, until your new shoes show up in the mail I'd say. Time for new shoes I'm afraid.

Thank for all the responses, greatly appreciated. I decided to send them to rock and resole a few days ago. I'm now thinking that i should have had locker do them. (sorry locker, wasn't familiar with you before this thread started). Hopefully all goes well.

Locker (or anyone else), do you resole approach shoes? Or know anyone besides the Rubber Room that does?
