Adjusting Wiregate Tension

So I've got a few wiregates (CAMP Nano 23)that I bought for racking my cams on, and they're really stiff. Looking closely I can see that the distance between the pivot holes is the same as on a much larger carabiner. Clearly strength and other engineering tolerances limit how close the two holes can be. But IMO they ought to be a millimeter or so closer. The effect is that the gate is stiffer than a larger carabiner - given the same gate opening angle and pivot - simply because my finger has less leverage on a shorter gate.
So here's the question - Am I crazy to try to adjust the tension?
Wiregates work by having the wire loop picot though two holes that are almost aligned with the gate when closed, but askew as it opens. This torques the wire and twists the gate. So the gate is effectively its own spring.
So in theory, I can pre-twist the gate just a tiny bit and effectively reduce the gate tension. It would only be a mm or so, and I would have to do it by feel, as there's only about 3mm difference between open and closed.
I think that they actually do this in the factory where a worked test each gate and gives it a nudge to fine-tune the adjustment.
It's such a simple device that I can't imagine that a minor adjustment would have any negative effect or that anything could happen that isn't obvious. (ie: I dent, bend, scratch or break it, or screw up the closure)
And of course I'd keep an eye on it over time to make sure the gate is still working properly. Plus these are biners that are only rarely used on the occasion that I clip the rope directly to the cam.
Has anybody done this before?

Try a little dry lube, warm soapy water. They will loosen up with use. I would never try adjusting them. I think that you'll not be able to bend them so they'll stay. They are spring steel. Just put them away until you go climbing again.

Try it with one, take pictures and report back. Worst case scenario you are out six bucks in the name of science. Go for it.

I did it with a few of my Camp Photon's. Used a nut tool, and just twisted the gate slightly to tighten it up. I'm still alive.

For Science!
It works like a charm.
I tried it with one, and after a couple light tweaks with a flathead screwdriver, there's no noticeable change in the carabiner and the tension is fixed!

I'd submit photos, but there's no visible difference.

Can you please be a little more specific as to which direction you are twisting the gate to adjust tension? I have a BD Oz with an unusually tight gate I would like to loosen a little bit.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
