Granby area climbing

Hello all,

I'm in the Granby/Grand Lake area for a conference through 8/4, and would love to get out for a little bouldering &/or sport climbing in my free time. I'm not familiar with the area and was hoping some of you could give some suggestions on good accessible crags or boulders. I know I'm on the edge of the Park and have a wealth of options, but relatively accessible with a rental car within an hour or so of Granby is what I'm after.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Also, if anyone needs a partner or doesn't mind a tag-along, I've got a harness, belay device, and about a decade of experience with on bolts, gear, and bouldering.

Thank you in advance for any info!

-Daniel

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but what you are looking for does not exist in Granby or anywhere in Grand County.

Clear Creek Canyon is less than an hour away and has loads of sport.

There IS bouldering in the area - pretty low key and hidden. Hike up to Columbine Lake for some good stuff, or up past Monarch Lake towards Pawnee for 3.5 miles or 7 miles for the good stuff. A few random boulders on N. and E. Inlet trails, as well as around Lake Granby, but not much there. The Titans are the best, up towards Devil's Thumb. I put up around 45 problems (V1-V11) over the past 4 years in those areas.

Thank you all for the info. I actually got a partner and hit Lumpy for a bit- good stuff. I didn't get to boulder around Grand Lake but did run a few of the trails; Flash Gordon, there's definitely good stuff out there!

Thanks for the info, and hope to visit you all's neck of the woods again soon.
