In the early 80's, I was climbing pitch one when it was wet (as always), and I slipped, fell, and whacked hard into the wall below. It hurt like a bastard. But I was climbing with a student of mine, so I figured I should suck it up, be a good sport, and continue climbing. After finishing the climb, we went over to Whitehorse and climbed Wedge. I had run it out sixty feet or so, when I got the dizzies (very weird) and nearly fainted. But the moment passed, and we finished the climb. We called it a day after that because my ribs were killing me. The next day, I learned that I'd broken one rib and cracked two. The moral of the story is . . . (actually, there is no moral).
