Description
The Mordor Boulder Area is comprised of three fallout zones. A recent rock slide from the upper cliffs deposited several boulders below. The rock quality is different from other Garfield boulderfields, as the duration of weathering has been relatively short. Any development requires a fair amount of cleaning, as many of the boulders are covered in a thick film of mud.
This area can be very hot during or near the summer months, as the area is south-facing, and the landscape is completely bare of vegetation. It is probably best to visit during the winter months. But beware, the area's soil turns to peanut butter after rainfall and snow melt.

Getting There
From the trailhead's parking lot, head east on the dirt road for about one hundred yards. This will eventually turn into a hiking path that leads up a short hill. Once at the hill's apex, leave the path and head down the hill toward the east. You'll eventually hit a pair of stormwater basins and the boulder area. Reference the page map for greater clarification.
