Ascender Preferences?

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a pair of ascenders and am not too sure what kind would be best. Does anybody have any preference. I could get a pair of CMI ultrascenders at a really reasonable price but am also considering ClimbTech's ascenders. Any feedback based upon experience would be great. Thank you very much.

BD nForce are sweet b/c you can trigger from the backside with your index finger....its not a huge difference, but i like it way more than petzl's.

If you're able to get a deal on the CMIs then buy them. nForce aren't Scottish. (They're CRAP!) ClimbTech are ok for the price, though I have my doubts as to their durability.

No votes for the ugly yellow jumars?

I have 1 ugly yellow jumar, a pair of basic Petzls, and a microcender.
Yellow lives in the haul. The micro can be handy in the steeps for a space jug with either hand.(Jib?) The pair is the Main.
I'm not so down with all those fancy shmancy BD dealios.
I'd just score a set of plain old Petzls on ebay, or some such. Or "ugly yellows" if the price is right. EFF BD, they don't love you. No need to go hog wild though, bro.
.02 for ya.

i like the Black diamond N-force ascenders more than the petzl ones. The bd trigger is allot easier to use.

There's a whole thread of discontented BD owners on SuperTaco:

I've owned the penultimate version of the Petzl ascenders and love them, sounds like the latest Petzl version is very similiar.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
