If you need ideas on what crags work in the winter, I'm sure plenty of us will have plenty of suggestions within 10 minutes of where ever you stay. Cheers & climb on!
Yep...unless we happen to get a storm or a cold snap, you can prett much climb out here year round.

There's only been a few days in the past month that I needed a jacket mid day.

Scott, I don't know if you noticed, but I just drafted you into climbing with Kirby1013 (et al) next year. Maybe we could get Tits in on it as well? And bowlpiece 420, or whatever you're calling yourself these days, you can come too!
Anyway, Go Broncos, and Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah or Swell Solstice, or Best Wishes for the End Times (celebrated on the 21st), to all!!

Sounds great! What a crazy way to meet people. I'll definitely let you guys know when I'm in town.

.. and people say Mountain Project isn't friendly

Matt, I do everything except sport. I'm too fat to sport climb. My profile is pretty accurate on how not hard I climb. I would really like ice climb in CO. I've ice climbed all over western Canada but never climbed in the western US.

Cool. I spray 5.11d, but only send about 5.8(+, in Eldo!) We can almost certainly find some ice, unless the Park is still on fire, or global climate change turns the Front Range into West Kansas (this line is credited to Tits McGee), or it's a La Nina year (whatever that means), in which case Eldo it is!

The Broncos have never beaten the Ravens at home, but Peyton Manning is 8-0. Should be sweet.

Kirby, so we're stoked on Earth Treks next year also, great camping in our frontyard 3 miles from the gym. 5-10 more minutes and you're in Clear Creek Canyon.

Why on earth would you make a road trip to a gym.

Esp with all the great climbing in CO

Bill Kirby · · Keene New York · Joined Jul 2012 · Points: 480

Iron man.. Because I can never remember how to tie a bowline therefore my top rope anchor's a little sketchy sometimes. I would hate to go all the way to Colorado and not climb. Thank god for gyms.

Hank, sounds great but I can't fit all my camping gear and my gym gear in the same suitcase. Thanks for offer!

The suspension of disbelief is de rigueur for all storytelling. Seeing that it's winter and cabin fever has set in, I just can't buy this one. I want to believe, but...no. No. You aren't actually flying to Golden to go to this gym in a year. You aren't. Nope. Not buying it. Nuh-uh. It would be funnier if I could sort of believe.

Good effort, though.

Betwean the football talk (bunch of overpaid gorillas in tights) and the gym talk (a SUBSTITUTE for the real thing) this thread is about as interesting as watching paint dry

I think it's awesome how many times I've read "You can climb year round on the front range; it's always sunny here; I don't even need a jacket in December; etc." All just because you've had a few mild winters.

I agree that weather out there is pretty great but when I lived there, the front range was covered in snow for a pretty large part of the winter. Good thing I wasn't there for the climbing!

I wonder if the last few winters are a random occurrence or if it is going to be like this from now on?

But you can climb year round... Just not everyday. It snows. Then the snow melts and it's hot. Then it snows again. Then it melts again. Each week in winter is like a year full of seasons in itself. Until the big snows of late Jan and Feb. That stuff can last a while.

It's been like this for a while.
