Yep LK is in NC! The only bat hook hole used on this route was placed on aid from the bolt in this photo. The bat hook was used to do some cleaning and sussing of holds. I put it in a spot where I thought the next bolt would go, and indeed ended up using a bolt there. The route is seriously fun.

Holy crap, I don't have the slightest clue what is going on there!

Russ, thanks for the comment. These are the tactics I employed to go ground up free climbing a groove that needed cleaning. The stick brush was used to scrub the groove from below, so uncover the holds. After taking numerous whips onto the slab trying to figure out the sequence in this section, I decided to leave the drill fifi'd to the last protection piece with enough slack between it and myself so I could climb to the next decent stance and pull up the drill if necessary to install protection on the route, then get back to scrubbing. Making sure the fifi hook is held upright by your tag line is key, so you can tag it.
