Im an ice climber from Colorado and I drove up to nor cal yesterday hoping to find something. Probably not a surprise that I didn't, but I don't mind taking the tools for a walk, especially in early season. I wanted to hopefully start a thread of like minded people searching for the elusive CA ice. So here it goes my trip report-
Was up on North peak today looking at North Couilor and it's got a pretty good section of mixed terrain in the middle not quite ready or too late? Hiked out a bit farther to check on some others I spotted across the way. Some small one pitch WI3 climbs are starting to form. Not sure of there in a book I'd appreciate some direction on those.
The "North Couloir" on North Peak is the rightmost of the three, and should not be melted out. The left-hand and middle couloirs I'd expect to be "out," but the right couloir should be in some condition of "in."
Water Ice won't be in yet. Alpine Ice is mostly out months ago after the year's low snow fall.

Was at Eagle Lake Canyon last weekend and Sunny Falls was starting to form but still pretty thin. It was melting out quick with the sun on it. Nothing showing on the south side of the canyon. Approach was horrendous with only 4" of snow. Hopefully this storm adds some base to it.
