The Mountain Project App failed to open on my iPhone 4s after several attempts this morning. I deleted it (losing all saved data), downloaded it and now it has opened but I am unable to open the search screen. Perhaps the latest update to this app has some flaws.

Update: deleted and reinstalled it and now seems to be functioning properly. Love this app.

You broke it again for me. I accidentally clicked the latest update, and now the app gets stuck at startup. I deleted it and now it won't reinstall. This is the night before leaving on a trip to Red River and I actually paid the $5 for it.

I've been using the app on an ipad and really like it. Here's my personal wish list of things I'd like to see (sorry if some of these are repeats):

1. The ability to do the "best routes for you in this area" customized search on the app. That's one of my favorite features of the website, and I'd absolutely love to see that on the app as well.

2. The ability to update all areas on the device at one go, or a setting to auto-update areas when on a wifi network. I've loaded a bunch of areas, and to get updates I have to go through and update them one by one. It's slow.

3. The ability to download all photos of large areas when on a wifi network, or the ability to limit photo downloads to beta photos. For example, Boulder Canyon has a ridiculously large number of photos, so the app objects to getting them all at once. But having to go through each area in Boulder Canyon and get the photos one area at a time takes a while.

One more "wish list" item: The ability to filter todos based on areas and sub-areas. As it is, all my todos are just mixed together in the app, so if I'm going somewhere (say Joshua Tree) that I haven't been in awhile and want to remind myself what my todos are, it's pretty hard to do with the app.

Also the ability to delete todos from the app would be nice for when I finally send something.

Thanks again for putting the awesome app together!

Love the app. When trying to delete an area it often gets stuck in a Deleting Area or Waiting to Delete cycle and never goes away. When I try and view another area I get:

"An error occurred while accessing the datastore. If you are downloading, updating, or deleting an area, please wait until this finishes and try again"

Wait as I may, the only way to get around it has been to uninstall the entire app and reload my areas.

Other than that, the app is an amazing tool, especially for the western slope, thanks for the great work!

Just downloaded the latest version of your app to my iphone 4S. I'm looking forward to using it and will definitely pay the one-time subscription fee when required. I do have a couple of general comments though.

My experience on which apps I keep and continue to use on my phone tend to strike a balance between content and design. At present the MP app seems very content heavy (which is a good thing when considering climbing beta) and somewhat lacking in design, especially in simplicity and asthetic from a users perspective.

As this app continues to be refined, please consider keeping the design and user interface as simple, intuitive to use and uncluttered as possible. I would argue there are features on this app that don't necessarily need to be there for it's intended purpose, but those features are alternatively useful on the MP main site instead.

Otherwise carry on with your great work!

I think this is worth considering:

Make two apps.

The first app is free, and gives you acces to the forums, access to the front page and photos, and to user profiles, and the deals. This is basically your advertising/social app

The second app is the route database and the ability to update personal ticks, ratings, stars, and route comments. This is the $10.00 field guide. Alternatively, this could be an in app purchase option to the first app.

I not sure how heavy you guys are into iOS and Android development. This may be too much work for what you want, but it make some sense to me.

Some quick input for the App:

Sorting Bookmarks: I love and use the Bookmarks feature. Some way to sort routes and areas on the Bookmarks page would be super helpful.

Sorting Areas: There is a sorting problem with areas that begin with “The”. Areas that begin with “The” are mistakenly put down the list with areas with names that begin with “T”. However lists of routes are sorted correctly.

Sorting Routes: I love the ability to sort routes in an area by L>R, R>L, and alpha. As mentioned before, sorting routes by rating would also be nice.

Star Ratings: When looking at a list of routes I like to see yellow star ratings for routes I have rated. This is the case on the web version of MP, and used to be that way in earlier app releases. In the current app version you have to open each route to see yellow star ratings.

Hey guys, just downloaded the app and think its awesome, so far I have only found one issue.

I can't download the LA area, it keeps telling me there is an error. I've tried deleting it and downloading it again, also deleted all data and tried again to no avail :/

Any suggestions or fixes would be awesome

The LA package was corrupted but I've re-built and it works now.

Step 1: get the old version off your phone. Either go to "Options" on the app home page and then tap "Delete All Data", or just uninstall/reinstall the app.

Step 2: Install LA. It should work now.

Thanks!

it would be fantastic to have your ticks, to-dos and stars sync automatically whenever you were on wifi with the app open. The sync also seems to fail about 2/3 of the time (even when it says it completed).

overall, love the app. can make even sport climbing a bit adventurous! :)

There is another post about an issue with the search function. On my Samsung Galaxy S3 I can't get it work. Can anybody advise?

I'm having an issue with bookmarks on android app. When I update a region and try to go to an area that I have bookmarked I get an error. I need to delete the old BM and make a new one. Kind of a pita. I've had this from day one. Now using android build 25

+1 for route rating option on the app.

Deleting bookmarks shouldn't ask if you want to delete the area.

Area order (up/down) isn't saved when you restart the app.

Need the ability to remove to do's.

Add the ability to add comments?

Android version 2.5, build 25.

For the app, is it possible when viewing a route for a certain area (and if the area is sorted) be able to swipe Left or Right to get to the next route? I think that might be a nice feature, especially when you are staring at a rock face.

V2.5 Build 25

Thanks! Love the app!

We are in the initial planning phases of an entire re-write of the apps with some new features and fixes like this. I will put this on the list.

So many great things about this app!

To polish the features, could you add the ability to share bookmarks. I put together a hit list for road trips, and it would be great to share with partners. Thanks.

Ability to find routes of type (e.g. sport).

I downloaded all pics for an area and then went out to the climb and had no reception. It seemed as though it only had thumbnails downloaded. The pics were too blurry to read topos or make out details of the rock features.

Ads on a $8 app is a negative, but at least they aren't all over.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
