I've used these guys now to buy 4 ropes and a backpack over the past year, and just need to let everyone know: 1- their customer services is great, 2-selection is huge, and 3- best prices. That pretty much covers it in my book....

Seem pretty average prices to me. Actually, they don't have free shipping, so their prices end up being more expensive than EMS, Moosejaw, and Backcountry. And compared to all three of those sites (or even just Backcountry) their selection is sort of small, at least the ropes I'm looking at (only Mammut at the moment). And their name is misleading if they're selling backpacks, too.

What's your connection?

Never paid postage. No connection. And e-omc us outdoor gearx and wildyx all come to mind before moosejaw or ems. If we are talking rock climbing....

I would recommend them as well. Got a great deal on a skinny bi colored Mammut. Moosejaw was adding tax last time I tried them. That was a deal breaker for that order.

Weird. I've never been charged tax. I can see if you're in MI since they're based out of there they would have to charge you tax.

Not saying that's a bad place to shop, but I have lots of online stores (there are no brick and mortar around here for hours) that I go to. Each site has different deals, different gear, but they all have free shipping (and since nothing climbing related is based out of Ohio I don't have to pay tax). :)

I agree, these folks are very good. Bought a 200m spool of static from them a few months ago, couldn't be happier with price and service.

I bought a 70m Bluewater lightening shipped for 160.00 Local gear shop sells the 60m for 250.00.

Also, I received the rope in literally 2 days.

Moosejaw has a physical location in the Denver/Boulder area now I believe...so this would explain the recent taxation.

Just a heads up everyone: type in RBG2011 into the coupon area and you'll receive 20% off an entire order

Bringing this thread back from the dead to ask -- anyone know what happened to Just Ropes? Looks like they've been subsumed into Amazon somehow, and their selection looks terrible and more focused on bags than actual ropes now. Anyone have the deets?

Looks like they're done for and just selling off the last of inventory via an Amazon storefront.

That's a shame. So with them gone, where do people recommend finding deals on ropes right now? I'm trying to find a rope, preferably 70m, to cut in half for the gym. Basically I want the cheapest rope I can find, and I always see people here claiming they can find 70m ropes for <$120 no problem. Can any of you rope deal gurus point me in the right direction??? I'm not seeing any 70s for <$140 on MP Deals or Spadout

Just get a short rope: gearexpress.com/climbing/ro…
