Description
A long approach of mild hiking leads to this interesting area that has great potential. Mostly granite, there are a number of scattered talus fields and exposed slab/vertical faces. It gets good weather, but you have to leave early in the morning, and snow closes it in winter months. The complete hike, starting from the higher trailhead, is a 9 mile hike that leaves you 4 miles down the road. The boulders start after you hit the pass about 2 miles in. The best climbing is another mile and a half down the trail though.
Getting There
The approach is very easy hiking, although can be rough if not properly acclimated. You MUST leave early to get in much daylight. This resource shows you the trail head: aspenportrait.com/favorites…
