Salmon River Slab Rock Climbing

NOTE: Please be sure to have a Northwest Forest Pass displayed in your vehicle while parked here. Also, despite the popular trend, it is NOT cool to be drinking beer at a roadside crag in a National Forest.

This is a very small crag within the Mt. Hood National Forest, right next to the cold and rushing Salmon River. The road is very popular, as the Old Salmon River Trail passes just on the other side of the road, and the area in general is an extremely popular destination for hikers, anglers, and campers. The slab itself is mere feet away from being within the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness, so tread lightly. There are five routes here, all fully bolted. It's a great area to learn the ropes of climbing if you're new to the sport, otherwise it's a fun stop for a visiting gym climber.
