Wide Approach and Trail Runners?

I am shopping for both types of footware.

I have slightly wide feet and always have trouble finding a good fit. Usually I have Vasque boots and Pingora approach shoes and they fit super. But tried their Breeze recently and it was too narrow...anyone find a great pair of approach or trail running shoes that work for you?

My instep is high too with that fine vein running right across top of my foot. It gets shut off pretty easily.

Someone suggested 5.10 guide tennie. Aside from a pair of Mocs I have never messed around with their products.

Thank you!

La Sportiva C-Lite or Skylite. I like the C-Lite Leather version, but they aren't on the website for some reason. I know they still make them, they're all black.

Edit, they are, they're called the crossleather.

I like the Salomon XA Pro's, which are fairly roomy up front. As side from trail running, scrambling in these shoes are fine, but would not climb in them. Keep in mind they can be a little pricey, but online deals are always around.

I have a wide forefoot and the same vein problem on top of my foot. I can't wear flippers while snorkeling or diving for very long before my feet go numb.

New Balance MT110s are available in an E width. I love them.

I've never tried a E width shoe before...are they just wider in the toe box area or does it run wide overall (heel cup, etc)?

Thanks for all the replies!

Here's where I wound up:

Increased half a size (from my normal size) on the New Balance 1110 Trail Runners.

Also purchased the Boreal Flyers for approach. They have a nice wide toe box.

+1 for Salomon - look at XA Pro, XT Wings and XR Mission

My Dad and girlfriend (both have wide feet high instep) wear La Sportiva Wildcats

+1 for Guide Tennie

I would also suggest the Scarpa Quest as a wider approach shoe

I have Fred Flintstone wide feet.

the Salewa Dragontail shoes fit my feet well.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
