I camp fairly often north of Grant, Colorado on the Guanella Pass road (CO road 62, 1068, Geneva Rd) with a bunch of non climbers and have always wondered if there are any established climbing areas there due to some great looking terrain. Since the group is composed of non climbers I've never had the opportunity to do any exploring on the rock.
Anyone know of routes in this area? The closest posted areas on MP are in Baily (S. Platt) and Fairplay, not remotely close to where I'm talking about.
Thanks for the info. I'll have to do some exploring next time I'm up there. Sounds like it could be a new area to establish further and I'd think wouldn't be as busy as Clear Creak, Eldo., etc. since it is a way out of town.
Lastly, last fall while hiking up Three Mile TH it looked like somebody was scouting out a small cliff up the trail about 20 from the TH. I didn't check it out but from the trail it looked like there might be enough solid rock for a route or two.
