Description Suggest change

A variety of cliffs and boulders that still need to be developed. The rock consists of granite that can be sometimes a little crumbly because it has not been climbed much. This is very secluded with nice views of ponds and a small stream.

Every cliff at this area is toprope only as of right now but I would love if they could get bolted and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to think that

Getting There Suggest change

2/8/2023 As best I know ( and I'm on the other side of the state) one can still climb here AS LONG AS ONE PARKS AT THE SKI AREA and walks up the road to the trailhead.  If anyone has information that conflicts with this please let me know via a "Improve this Page" or contact via e-mail. Thanks R. Hall  NH Admin.

If you can get to Canaan, NH you take Canaan St. Lake Rd. out past the lake go down the long hill when you come to the bottom keep going straight for about 25-30 minutes you will come to the Dartmouth Skiway (ski area). PLEASE PARK HERE.

The ski area can also be reached from Lyme, NH going east through Lyme Center on Grafton Turnpike, staying on Grafton Turnpike by taking the right-hand branch at a "Y" intersection.

Make the hike from there to the crags.  Walk back south from the ski area.  A little ways before the pond you will see a pull off (no parking!) and the trailhead. Given the distance, a short mile, I drop off partners and ride a bike from the lot (I'm not lazy, it saves climbing time).  Know that the Dartmouth Outing Club frequents the southern of the two crags, having permission.  Bring a 30-50 foot length of rope to tie off trees back from the cliff edge for excellent top-roping.

THIS IS A PRIVILEGE TO HAVE THIS CLIMBING AREA OPEN TO US JUST BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL TO IT

TAKE OUT TRASH THAT YOU TOOK IN, IF YOU SEE ANY TRASH CARRY IT OUT ALSO

BE RESPECTFUL OF THIS LAND    TREAT IT LIKE YOU WOULD YOUR OWN BACK YARD!

DON'T PARK IN THE ROAD OR IN THE SMALL PULL-OUTS (mentioned in some guidebooks and earlier postings to this site):  YOU COULD GET TOWED OR GET A TICKET,. OR WORSE, MAKE THE OWNER PISSED AND SHUT US DOWN

THIS IS A SENSITIVE AREA SO IF YOU THINK THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE THERE THeN TRY EARLIER THE NEXT DAY OR SOMETHING.  PLEASE, NO HUGE GROUPS OR TONS OF PEOPLE UP THERE FOR SAKE OF KEEPING THE AREA OPEN TO CLIMBERS
