Looking for a shoe...

Hey all,

I'm looking for a shoe that does pretty well at edging. I've got a pretty wide foot. Second toe is slightly longer than my big toe. I've been eyeing up the Evolv Demorto, but it seems like it's more for pure crack, and I'm in an area that has a lot more edging now.

Any suggestions, and thanks ahead of time.

I have wide feet with mutant second toe syndrome and have had the best luck with fivetens. Check out the gambit. Great shoe right out the box. I love the spire and swear it can do anything. Scarpas can be comfy in certain models like the vslipper. Good luck.

I also have wide feet and the weird second toe. I just bought LS Miuras and I love them. Top Ramen for the next month though. I make sacrifices for precision edging.

i use miuras/katanas with wide feet ....

that said my recommendation is absolutely useless to you if you dont go out and try it on to make sure it fits

That's interesting because I cannot wear a single sportiva shoe without severe pain. which is unfortunate because muiras are great shoes. But, you are correct, the shoe must be tried to the foot in question. All little piggies need their own home.

I agree, I thought miuras and katanas suited a narrower foot, as to the OP, check out the 5.10 Galileos they are a nice edging shoe and there isn't too much asymmetry in the toe box. Try on lots of shoes and you should come across something that stands out.

The Acopa JB high tops edge like a boss and have a wider toe box, good luck trying to find a pair though

I have very wide feet at the toe, relative to the heel, and I love my Miuras. They were painful for about two weeks while I broke them in, but they fit wonderfully now. The leather in the toebox will stretch enough to accommodate a wide foot if you size them right. The heel is just a touch looser than I'd like, but it's not worth the pain to go another half size down.

don't know about wide. But the five.ten Rockwrenchedges good and works with the second toe being long. helped me out quite a bit.

Five Ten Verde or Blanco. The Blanco being a bit stiffer because of the thicker sole. I have really wide feet and these work well for me. I can do everything in them too.

My second toe is only a few millimeters bigger than my large toe, so maybe I can't give you the best advice, but I Really love the way the Five Ten Galileo climbs, even though it doesn't fit me very well. I have long (size 13) narrowish feet (sportiva and scarpa fit like a glove) and I bought a size 13 in the Galileo. They have an all day feel to them and I have to pull the velcro straps so that half of it is hanging out like a limp something or other, but I can stand on 1/4 edges all day and I'm not racing to get my shoes off when I hit the ground. The galileo, like most of the anasazi shoes have a nice rounded toe that fits a lot of feet.

SO get the galileo. (if it's too stiff the anasazi vcs is a decent edging shoe that is also good at crack and smearing)>

Edit: I forgot to mention that I mostly climb at Smith Rocks in this shoe, and they were made for that place!

the 510 anasazi lace up blanco is really stiff great for edging and quite wide

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
