Shit Non-climbers Say

The best quote I have ever heard from a non climber walking past us while climbing at Rifle:

"I am so afraid of heights, I cannot even look up"

:-)

Thanks! Since she threw it in with things like "R U crazy" I was trying to figure out what the R1 sounded like!

Dude, R 1 is the insulating R rating of snow.

My favorite quote from a non-climber:

"I don't take big whippers because I am such a solid and static climber"

Guess which poster on the thread spewed this nonsense?

Way to give away the answer Ellenor. It would have been more fun if you had not spoiled the game, I wanted to at least see a few guesses first.

Ellenor, I'd like to offer a suggestion that may help improve your experience on MP.

Next time you want to post, write what you have to say. But, DO NOT HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON.

Then, walk away from the keyboard for 30 seconds. If something else comes to mind or if someone else has made a comment you'd like to respond to, add it to what you've already typed. Again, DO NOT HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON. Walk away from your keyboard for 30 more seconds.

Repeat this four times. Then, if and ONLY IF nothing else comes to mind, hit the submit button.

You are not helping your cause by posting the way you do. People have tried to point this out to you more than once, some have been very direct while others have been a bit more subtle.

Seriously, you might not experience as much animosity if you modified your approach a bit.

And, one other thing. You're not texting your 15 yr old girlfriend during chemistry class. This is the internet so perfect spelling and grammar aren't expected but, come on! If you have so much to say that you can't take the time to spell 'you', you are trying to say too much.

I don't know, I almost think she's a better troll than the wannabe toughs unsuccessfully trying to ride her lady balls. She seems to have that water off a duck's back thing going for her anyway, which is the perfect scenario for internet bitch making if you axe me. At least one of the tough guys trying to pimp slap her is a well known dupe for that tactic...

She is better troll than you anyway, and probably a better climber as well, young eZekiel.

I would bet she would love to put that rope up for you on your next 5.10 project and give you the beta too.

I agree that the Ell is a pretty good troll, but why are you kissing a trolls ass? You gotta be above that man, otherwize you will just be adding to the collection of warts on your lip.

This whole back and forth thing with Ellenor is the best thing on this thread.

You should have no problem finding a WI5 climber who needs help getting up a sport 10.

Conversation with non climber~ "I just don't get why you would climb up the same rock over and over again, it seems dumb"
Me~ "Because it's fun, exciting and challenging. I like the adrenaline rush, same reason I jump out of planes over and over."
Non climber~ "I know exactly what you mean! I get that same rush when I play Call of Duty!"
Me~ "Yup it's the same"

My mother~ "So you hug rocks all day? That's nice I guess."
