How to Rappel on a Budget

O...M...G...

How is he not dead?

"Im not sure what this is called, I think its a D clip thing"...

"the clip only needs to hold 150-200 pounds"

Also didn't he say it cost about .50 to make? Yet he bought webbing or rope for $5.00 a yard. I'm broke... I guess I will have to do without the fancy webbing and prooosick thingy.

This guy has a great future. Reminds me of the famous British climber Joe Brown, who went climbing with his mom's clothesline when he was 16. Actually it was a piece of rope that used to be her clothesline but she'd thrown it out because she thought it was too old to be reliable. See joe-brown.com/docman/joe-br… .

it's a joke. the ground is like 10 feet below the bridge. and, if you pay close attention when he's supposedly dangling, the ground is right underneath him.

Say what you want, this is the kinds of things kids find to do when they don't have a TV to stare at all day. Completely unsafe and ridiculously stupid, but he's out there innovating and finding a way to do some cool stuff with what he has at his disposal. We need more (properly trained) kids like this.

EDIT:
I just watched the video he did on smoking herion. I take my previous comment back.

The thing I'm most amazed at is how many people thought at some point in the video, "Yeah, I did something like that when I was a kid" but haven't posted up on here. Come on, you know this is where most of us came from!

I have known some folks to be kinda 'cowboy', but never like this.

Even if it is fake, its hard to beat. Wow, is all i can say.

Bump - been a while since this gem made the rounds. Been meaning to get myself a rappelling bag for cheap in the off season. Happy Friday!

The best quote from the whole thing is "This thing, I don't know, I'd say it's about 50 feet or so, it's pretty tall. And luckily I've got 30 feet of rope, so I'll see if it makes it down to the bottom."

There is an old climber in Boulder that no one question his climbing abilities or knowledge that started climbing with home made gear, hemp ropes in Texas on what he calls mud walls.

The guy in the vide shows more of the old climbing spirit that a lot of people on this website. Good for him, he did it and live to tell about it. Isn’t that what climbing  is about.

Btw Is MP dead? Most of the posts I see are for selling gear and reposts like this one.
